Education is fundamental to our purpose at Lexington Regional Health Center. We believe knowledge is the key to a healthy lifestyle, thus putting education in the forefront of all patient interactions. We also offer our community various educational seminars and support groups.
Prior to a surgical procedure, a patient education coordinator with Lexington Regional meets with each patient and the family to discuss the procedure, pre- and post-op care, and any risks associated with the procedure. The patient education coordinator will also discuss appropriate testing, paperwork, explanation of needs, as well as what to anticipate during surgery.
In addition to meeting with patients scheduled for a surgical procedure, the patient education coordinator also meets with patients diagnosed with a new disease or those who need additional information on specific medications. Education focuses on the importance of blood tests, diet, medication, and exercise.
