Radiology

Our full service diagnostic radiology department offers a full range of medical imaging specialties. We have partnered with Advanced Medical Imaging (AMI) in Lincoln, Nebraska, to provide interpretation services of exams performed at our facility. Their board certified radiologists are ready to provide you with the most accurate interpretation of your exam, day or night. Many of their radiologists have additional fellowships in musculoskeletal, neurological, and breast imaging.

You can trust and rely on our highly qualified staff for all of your medical imaging needs.

Our mammography staff is dedicated to ensuring you receive the most comfortable and thorough examination. Each mammography team member is board registered in mammography, demonstrating their commitment to quality examination. Additionally, the mammography department is accredited by the American College of Radiology.

Studies show that screening remains the best form of prevention against breast cancer. Mammography is considered to be the best form of screening for breast cancer as well as other breast health concerns. Mammography uses radiation to create detailed and comprehensive images of the breast tissue in both male and female.

Extended mammography hours are offered the first and third Tuesday of each month.

We can accommodate your ultrasound guided biopsy needs such as thyroid, breast and prostate biopsies.

Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is a form of healthcare imaging that uses sound waves at different frequencies to create images of structures within the human body. These images are created using a variety of probes placed on the surface of the body as well as inside the body when indicated. Ultrasound is a very safe, non-radiation, imaging method that is performed to aid in the diagnosis of a wide variety of pathologies.

Appointment required for non-emergent examinations.

Bone densitometry, also known as DEXA, is a test that is used to measure the density of bones in the skeletal system. Diseases such as osteoporosis and osteopenia can cause a decrease in the density of our bones and put us at a higher risk for fractures.

DEXA examinations use low dose radiation to produce images of the spine, hip, and/or wrist. These images are entered into a program that will calculate the amount of bone density present in a patient. These calculations are compared to national averages for individuals of the same sex and age.

We use the most up-to-date technology and methods to provide you and your healthcare provider with the most accurate information possible. General radiography, or X-Ray, is commonly used to image bone and soft tissue structures of the body. Radiography can be used to evaluate fractures, coughs and aches/pains.

No appointment necessary.

Our 64-slice CT system and CT staff are able to perform the most complex and intricate examinations all while ensuring you are safe and comfortable.

Computed technology (CT) is a sophisticated form of healthcare imaging that is used to diagnose countless healthcare complications. CT uses radiation to produce highly detailed images of the human body to aid in the diagnosis of many common and uncommon health issues. Often CT examinations will be performed using oral and intravenous contrast medications. These medications are safe and the technologist performing the CT examination will thoroughly review your history for any contraindications.

Appointments required for non-emergent examinations.

We have an onsite magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system with a magnetic field strength of 1.5 Tesla. Due to the powerful strength of the electro-magnets in the MRI system, the technologist will have you complete and review a safety screening form.

If you have any implanted devices, such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, medication port, etc., please bring the devices information cards to your MRI appointment. The technologist performing your examination will review the device information to ensure that you are safe to proceed with your MRI procedure.

MRI studies can be used to diagnose a multitude of complications without the use of radiation. MRI systems use a series of electro-magnets to produce exceptionally detailed images of the human body and its structures. During some MRI examinations, an intravenous contrast medication may be used to obtain more sensitive images of certain structures within the body. The technologist performing the MRI examination will thoroughly review your history for any contraindications to the contrast medication.

Nuclear medicine examinations are an imaging study that requires the injection of a radio-pharmaceutical (radioactive medication). These safe medications are metabolized by different organs within the body. As these medications are being metabolized, images are taken to determine how well a particular organ is functioning.

We partner with Bryan Health to provide nuclear medicine services. Their skilled and highly trained staff are committed to our mission to optimize the health of our community.

Appointment required.

Positron emission tomography, also called PET or PET/CT, is one of the most advanced healthcare imaging examinations. PET/CT exams are typically used to locate and evaluate tumors in the body as well as measure blood flow to and from organs and other structures.

We have partnered with Shared Medical Services to bring this advanced and precise imaging technology to our community. The Shared Medical Services staff is committed to meeting the needs of our patients and committed to our mission to optimize the health of our community.
